These days Florence can no longer eat long fibre, only soaked chaff and grass. She has always been prone to being very windy, only these days they are no longer dry!! Florence is still prone to getting upset which has the effect of giving her an acid tummy, not colicky enough to call the vet but still enough to make her feel uncomfortable. "My 17 yr old mare has suffered from bouts of spasmodic colic since foaling 5 years ago, never having had an attack previously. Last year she had 4 attacks and I thought it was due to her having eaten a patch of clover. I subsequently put her on a twice daily low dose of Coligone . This April I purchased my own stables. When I moved her, the pasture was 'old grass' so I upped the dosage for a week until she was settled. I had no reocurrence of colic until 2 weeks ago when after yet another wet couple of days she appeared very uncomfortable, pawing the ground, rolling and 'windy' - typical colic symptoms. I gave her a syringe of Coligone and rang the vet. By the time the latter arrived( in 20 mins ), the horse was much improved and appeared comfortable and I can only put this down to the quick dose of Coligone. I have also given a dose, with similar good effect, to our thoroughbred, who had made a pig of himself in the field one day. My vet has told me that she knows that cool and wet weather always produces at least 2 new colic cases a day and she also says that it can strike any horse-she puts it down to changing climate conditions and the subsequent rise in levels of bacteria/moulds on pasture. "I have attached two photos of Fly - the horse that was fed Coligone when really ill and the vets couldn't actually say what was wrong except that she was converting protein from food in her system. I feel that the Coligone helped her system accept everything that was being fed to her - hard feed (high protein), herbs, oil and steroids. When She had turned the corner and started to recover She was kept on Coligone when everything else was withdrawn particularly the steroids. "What can I say - apart from "thank goodness for Coligone" and even more so "well done to H Bradshaws for introducing this amazing product!" I have a 5 year old ex racehorse thoroughbred chestnut mare.
She is absolutely wonderful and is my best friend. However she was/is prone to colic and unfortunately I thought I was going to lose her to this illness in February of last year when she was hospitalised for 6 days! Fortunately, I was told about Coligone and my vets also use this product. I always have to hand the small bottle of liquid just in case an emergency arises and have to administer with the syringe, but this has not been the case so far! My mare has half a scoop of coligone powder in her feed every evening. At times she can be a little bit gassy when she comes in and therefore I give her a full scoop.
The wonderful thing for my mare is that she doesnt have to endure the stressful pain of colic and also vets visits (as good as Hird's are!) with having a tube up her nose and down her throat with liquid parafin pumped through her! As I said "Thank goodness for Coligone!" - Julie Armstrong

"Sibaldi B, my best dressage horse has had colic during the winter months for the past 4 years. These have become progressively worse, resulting in almost no response from any treatment the vets gave. He was taken to be endoscoped, as they thought it was an ulcer problem. This proved inconclusive, so they suggested a change of diet. I didn't believe this to be the problem as I was more concerned that it was acid related.
In the meantime a good friend of mine suggested I investigate Coligone. I have now used it for the past two winters and also this spring and other than one small bout of colic he has been free of the problem. Indeed, when he did have this bout of colic he responded really well to a syringe full of Coligone.
